Flexible, Fast-Track Training for In-Demand Skills

The idea for Skills Bootcamps emerged from the need to create fast, effective, and industry-driven training that could quickly equip individuals with the specific skills employers were seeking. Initially piloted in 2020 as part of the Government's National Skills Fund, Skills Bootcamps were designed to provide high-quality training in key sectors such as digital, construction, engineering, and healthcare - areas where there was high demand for skilled workers.

The success of the pilot led to an expanded rollout across the country, with additional funding and more diverse course offerings to meet the evolving needs of both employers and jobseekers. Skills Bootcamps are now a central part of the UK’s efforts to support economic recovery post-pandemic and ensure a workforce that is ready for the future.

Skills Bootcamps are short, intensive training programmes designed to help adults gain valuable skills that lead directly to employment or career progression. Backed by the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee and developed with employers, Skills Bootcamps are free for individuals and tailored to meet real workforce needs in Hull and the East Riding.
