You will further develop your existing knowledge and practical skills in pottery and ceramics, building on what you learned at Intermediate 1 and 2 levels.

You will take greater responsibility for your work and complete projects with increased independence.

Course information

During this course you will -

  • combine hand-building techniques
  • create larger and more complex pieces
  • design and plan sculptural works
  • undertake an introduction to kiln loading and operation
  • understand the differences between clay types
  • learn how to use the right clay for the right purpose
  • gaining knowledge of firing stages and firing clays at the correct temperatures
  • use plaster press moulds
  • learn studio health and safety practices
