The Level 2 Certificate in Creative Ceramics is for learners who want to advance their practical skills in Pottery, Ceramics and Mixed Media.
This largely practical course is for potters with sound knowledge of ceramic creative processes who feel confident developing a project.
This qualification is delivered over 1 year and made up of four units, evidenced through portfolio submission. The course aims to develop sculptural, and practical knowledge, making, developing bodies of work, glazes and firing processes. learners will be taught how to create a large-scale sculptural bust, developing musculature and expression in clay, glaze making and have the chance to explore raku.
This course allows adult learners to study on a part time basis, attending one three-hour session a week so it can be accommodated alongside employment, childcare and other commitments.
Course information
Within this qualification learners will explore enterprise and employment opportunities as a ceramic artist. The course entails four units -
- use materials, tools and equipment to develop craft techniques.
- investigate creative enterprise create and present final piece of ceramic work.
- develop craft Ideas
- create, present and evaluate final heritage/traditional crafts item.
This course aims to develop strong design and project development skills, resulting in a clear understanding of the learner’s future direction as a ceramic artist. Achievement of the qualification will be evidenced gradually throughout the course documented in sketch book designs, taking part in discussions, video, some written analysis and ongoing development of risk assessments.
Entry requirements
- You must be 19 or over to enrol on this course
- You should have completed beginner/intermediate course or have a good level of experience
- You should be proficient at throwing and hand building
- You should have a basic knowledge of written English
- You should have access to a computer to complete assignments online
