In this 6-week course, you will learn how to safely use a potter’s wheel and produce at least one bowl or plate, which you will glaze using two or more different glazes.
By the end of the course, you will have a foundational understanding of wheel-throwing techniques and glazing, along with a finished, glazed piece of your own.
Course information
During this course you will -
- learn to identify and select suitable types of clay for wheel-throwing
- practice wedging techniques to remove air bubbles from clay
- develop your ability to centre clay on the wheel
- progress through the weeks to draw up low cylinders
- finish your work using stoneware glazes
You will gain a qualification in NCFE Entry 2 in Creative Craft.
Entry requirements
- This course is suitable for those who can already throw independently and make on centre cylinders of 10cm or more. This is an ideal progression course from the beginner/intermediate courses
- You must be 19 or over to enrol on this course
