During this course you will learn how to hand-build using earthenware clay, applying a variety of techniques such as scoring and slipping.
Once your project is complete, you will decorate it with underglaze and finish it using a transparent stoneware glaze
Course information
During this course you will -
- practically explore the six stages of clay by creating and decorating two projects - a simple tile to build confidence, then progress to create a small green man wall relief
- develop your hand building knowledge and decorating techniques
- use the slip and score method to successfully join decorations to your shaped slabs
- apply underglazes to decorate
- finish your piece with a transparent stoneware glaze
You will gain a qualification in NCFE Entry 2 in Creative Crafts.
Entry requirements
- You must have some experience in hand building with clay or it is an excellent progression from the beginners courses
- You must be 19 or over to enrol on this course
