You will build on your existing knowledge and experience while developing more advanced technical and creative skills in a supportive studio environment.
Course information
During this course you will -
- refine and develop your hand-building and throwing techniques
- explore traditional heritage craft techniques and contemporary ceramic practice
- develop skills in glazing, surface decoration, and firing processes
- develop creative thinking, research, planning, and evaluation skills
- develop employability skills including communication, teamwork, organisation, problem-solving, and time management
- gain an understanding of creative enterprise, self-employment, pricing, marketing, and customer engagement
Opportunities to engage with exhibitions, ceramics fairs, community projects, and employer encounters may also be available throughout the programme.
By the end of the course, you will have produced a portfolio of high-quality ceramic work demonstrating your technical skills, creativity, and readiness to progress to Level 3 study, employment, volunteering, internships, or self-employment opportunities.
Entry requirements
- You must be 19 or over to enrol on this course
- Entry 3 English
- You must have completed Creative or Heritage Crafts Level 1 or can demonstrate relevant creative experience
- You should not already hold a Level 2 qualification in Creative or Heritage Crafts or an equivalent subject
- You must have experience of hand-building and throwing
- You will need access to a computer to complete assignments online
