This practical and engaging course enables you to develop your ceramic skills through a range of creative projects inspired by both traditional heritage crafts and contemporary ceramic practice.
You will plan and create finished ceramic pieces while building confidence, independence, and creative problem-solving skills.
Course information
During this course you will -
- explore hand-building and introductory throwing techniques
- develop knowledge of surface decoration techniques including texture, slips, oxides, and glazing
- understand ceramic firing processes and safe studio working practices
- improve planning, organisation, problem-solving, and reflective skills
- gain experience of presenting, exhibiting, and where possible, selling creative work
- develop employability skills such as communication, teamwork, organisation, time managment, and customer awareness through project work, exhibitions, enterprise activities, and employer engagement opportunities where available
By the end of the course, you will have produced a portfolio of ceramic work demonstrating your technical skills, creativity, and readiness to progress to Level 2 study, volunteering, employment, or creative enterprise opportunities
Entry requirements
- You must be 19 or over to enrol on this course
- Entry 3 English
- You must have completed Creative Crafts Entry Level 3 or can demonstrate relevant creative experience
- You must not already hold a Level 1 qualification in Creative Crafts or an equivalent subject
- You will need access to a computer to complete assignments online
