Designed for learners with little or no previous experience, the course focuses on developing confidence, coordination, and the essential skills needed to create simple thrown ceramic forms. Course information
During this 7-week course you will -
- Develop confidence using a potter's wheel and understand the basic principles of wheel throwing
- Learn how to prepare, centre, open, and shape clay into simple ceramic forms
- Develop hand-eye coordination, control, and practical making skills
- Explore basic finishing, trimming, and surface decoration techniques
- Gain an introductory understanding of glazing and firing processes
- Develop creativity, resilience, and problem-solving skills through practical studio activities
- Understand safe working practices within a ceramic studio environment
- Gain an introduction to pricing, presenting, and displaying handmade ceramic products
- Explore opportunities within craft fairs, markets, and creative enterprise
- Build the confidence and skills required to progress onto an intermediate throwing course

- You must be 19 or over to enrol on this course
- Attend in Initial Assessment
- No prior experience needed
