Across seven weeks, you will develop confidence working with clay, explore hand-building techniques, and create a range of finished seasonal ceramic projects.

Course information

During this 7-week course you will -

  • learn the fundamentals of clay hand-building while exploring how creative skills can be developed into future enterprise opportunities
  • create a range of seasonal ceramic projects using hand-building techniques such as pinch pots, coiling, slab building, joining, decorating, and finishing
  • develop creative ideas, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of safe studio practice
  • alongside practical ceramics, you will explore how makers prepare work for craft fairs and creative markets, including basic product presentation, pricing, display techniques, and customer awareness

This course focuses on building the skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to progress towards further ceramics learning, creative enterprise activities, and future opportunities to showcase and promote handmade work.

Entry requirements

  • You must be 19 or over to enrol on this course
  • Attend an Initial Assessment
  • No prior ceramics or clay hand-building experience - beginners welcome
