Course information
When studying Functional Skills, you will develop the following -
Speaking, listening, and communicating
After completing this module you will be able to -
- say the names of the letters of the alphabet
- identify and extract the main information from statements and explanations
- respond to questions about specific information and make requests
- make clear statements and communicate feelings and opinions on straightforward topics
- understand and participate in discussions
Reading
After completing this module you will be able to -
- correctly read words designated for the level you are working towards
- understand the meaning of the texts you read
- read text and extract information
Writing
After completing this module you will be able to -
- use correct punctuation in your writing
- correctly spell words appropriate for your level
- recognise how to write and respond to emails, letters, reports, and articles
- communicate information in words, phrases and simple sentences
You will review your progress with your teacher throughout the course and be given feedback on ways to help you improve your English language skills.
Entry requirements
You will complete an initial assessment before you begin the course to ensure you are studying at the right level unless you are progressing from a previous course.
