Are you teaching students aged 14 and over in a Further Education or independent training provider educational setting? This apprenticeship is for you.
Whether you are teaching a technical or vocational subject, you need to have a sound understanding of pedagogy and regularly engage with robust evidence of effective teaching and learning methods and practice relevant to subject areas.
This apprenticeship will help you to develop knowledge and skills that you will need to succeed as a Learning and Skills Teacher.
Course information
During this course you will learn a full range of skills that a qualified learning and skills teacher needs including -
- key legislation
- the pedagogical theory and how to apply this theory to practice
- how to support contextualised opportunities to develop English and maths
- the principles of designing, planning, and organising curriculum
- strategies to engage and challenge all learners
- techniques to involve learners in taking ownership of their own progress
- principles and practices of assessment and feedback
- use innovative and up to date digital and online technologies in a way that is safe to improve teaching, learning and assessment
- design and use resources that are inclusive and add value to learners development
You will work towards gaining an apprenticeship standard in learning and skills teaching. The apprenticeship standard contains a list of skills, knowledge and behaviours you will need to have learnt by the end of your apprenticeship.
Entry requirements
- You must be aged 18 or over and have suitable employment in a teaching environment working with students aged 14 or over
- GCSE Grade (C/4) and above in maths and English (or equivalent). If you do not have these grades then call or email to discuss

18 months plus 3 months End Point Assessment (EPA)
