A talented ceramics tutor from Hull Training and Adult Education has been selected to showcase her work at a major national exhibition celebrating contemporary craft.

A ceramics tutor from Hull Training and Adult Education (HTAE) has been selected to exhibit her work at a prestigious national exhibition this summer.

Lesley Farrell will showcase her work at Inspired by Standen: The Future of Arts + Crafts, hosted at the National Trust’s Standen House & Garden in Sussex. The exhibition brings together more than 90 makers from across the UK, celebrating creativity, innovation and the enduring influence of the Arts and Crafts movement.

The exhibition, presented in partnership with Sussex Contemporary, will run from 2 July to 30 September and features contemporary work displayed throughout the historic interiors of the National Trust property.

Lesley, who teaches ceramics to adult learners at HTAE, said she was delighted to be part of the exhibition.

“I can’t wait to see the whole exhibition. I’m honoured to be showing at such a lovely venue, with so many talented makers.”

Being selected is a significant achievement and reflects Lesley’s creativity, passion and expertise in her field. Alongside her own artistic practice, she supports and inspires learners each week through her teaching, helping them to build confidence and develop their skills in ceramics.

Hull Training and Adult Education offers a wide range of creative courses, designed to help learners explore new interests, gain practical skills and progress into further opportunities or careers.

Lesley’s success highlights the high quality of teaching and talent within the service, as well as the important role creativity plays in lifelong learning.
