We bid a fond farewell to Rich Piercy as he retires after an exceptional 34 years with Hull Training and Adult Education
Last week, we said goodbye to Rich Piercy, our TLA Lead (Engineering), as he retired from Hull Training and Adult Education after an incredible 34‑year journey.
Rich has been part of Hull Training & Adult Education since 1990, starting at Trippet Street before moving through a wide range of roles that shaped the lives of learners and colleagues alike.
From supporting NEET learners as a joinery tutor, to managing the Level 2 Holiday Home Apprenticeship programme, and ultimately becoming TLA Lead for Engineering, Rich has played a vital part in strengthening our vocational provision. His work delivering Health & Safety, Manufacturing Planning, and Organisational Improvement training - alongside overseeing functional skills, timetables, tracking systems, and the IQA process - has had a lasting impact on both learners and staff.

Rich has always been dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment where apprentices can thrive. He’s known for his constructive feedback, meticulous approach to teaching and learning, and above all, his passion for seeing learners succeed. Nothing made him prouder than meeting former apprentices who had gone on to build successful careers and lives.
We thank Rich for his ;decades of commitment, leadership, and ;unwavering support for engineering apprentices at Hull Training and Adult Education.
