Charity Christmas hampers The Engineering Centre

Learners and staff from The Engineering Centre at Hull Training and Adult Education have been spreading festive cheer after assembling a series of Christmas hampers for local organisations.

The hampers, made up largely of donated products supplied by Fareshare Hull, were carefully packed on site before being delivered across the city.

The festive packages have been distributed to deserving recipients from Purple House, Hull and East Yorkshire Mind, Hull 4 Heroes and care leavers supported by the council’s Room 42. One of the first hampers was delivered to Room 42 earlier in the month, with additional deliveries taking place more recently.

As part of the project, learners and staff worked together to sort, prepare and distribute the hampers, with some deliveries involving door‑knocking and dropping individual bags directly to households. The initiative provided an opportunity for learners to engage in meaningful community action while gaining hands‑on organisational experience.

Fareshare Hull, who supplied the majority of the items included, expressed their support for the activity and were pleased to be featured as part of the effort. Their contribution ensured the hampers were well stocked with useful products to support individuals and families during the festive season.

This community initiative highlights the commitment of Hull Training and Adult Education to supporting local people and demonstrates the positive impact that collaborative work between learners, staff and community partners can achieve. The Engineering Centre team hopes the hampers bring a little extra warmth and support to those who need it most.
