Carpentry and Joinery (Wood Occupations) - NVQ Level 2 (employer)
Do you have staff with some experience of working as a joiner but does not hold any industry-related qualifications?
In a world of increasing skills shortages, particularly in this industry, upskilling staff members is an excellent way to close the skills gap and enable your staff to then be able to train the next generation coming into the trade.
This qualification is recognised throughout the sector and will equip your employee with the essential skills, knowledge and qualifications required and also enable them to apply for a CSCS blue card upon achievement.
Course information
With support from our experienced tutors, the learner will build a portfolio which must include evidence of them -
- conforming to general health, safety and welfare in the workplace
- conforming to productive working practices in the workplace
- moving, handling and storing resources in the workplace
Plus evidence of 2 from the list below -
- erecting structural carcassing components in the workplace
- installing Fire Resisting Timber Door Assemblies and Doorsets in the Workplace
- installing first, fixing components in the workplace
- installing second fixing components in the workplace
- maintaining non-structural carpentry work in the workplace
- setting up and using transportable cutting and shaping machines in the workplace
Course duration
Up to 12 months - to be discussed upon enrolment
Course costs
Fees apply to the 2025/2026 academic year, which runs from September 2025 to August 2026
£1,000 (Instalment arrangements are available)
