Course Aims
If you are new to pottery, or have very basic knowledge, this course is an introduction to hand building with clay.
You will gain confidence by making and decorating a pottery project using hand building techniques over the course of 10 weeks.

Course Content
During this 10-week course you will learn practical clay handling skills and a basic understanding of decorating techniques by making a set of nesting pouring bowls and decorating them with stoneware glazes.
You will also explore applying texture to the clays surface and the skill of etching into clay to create a sign or plaque.
Assessment Method
This is a RARPA based course, assessment is carried out though building of a portfolio and taking part within tasks matched to the individual’s personal targets.
RARPA stands for Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement which is the process of assessment for non-accredited learning. It is a means of validating the outcomes of programmes which do not result in qualifications. RARPA is a five-stage process which measures and records learners’ progress, achievements and attendance.
